
World’s Best Beach Volleyball Players Coming To Poreč in June
International Volleyball Federation’s (FIVB) most prestigious Beach Volleyball series will kick off its 2015 calendar with the first stop in Poreč, Croatia. World’s 32 best Beach Volleyball teams (men and women) will gather from June 2-7 to provide Peškera bay with a unique sports and entertainment event.
The Swatch Beach Volleyball Majors Series was created to push Beach Volleyball to an entire new level and position it on the world’s stage of top global sports. This year‘s FIVB World Tour serves as part of the qualifications for Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, where the beach volleyball will be a number one sport at Copacabana beach.
Apart from highest profile players and teams, $800.000 prize-money per tournament, unique interaction between players and the audience and unparalleled energy, the series offers a unique entertainment which promises truly outstanding events within the series. Expect true spectacle with various performances, dancers, DJs and about 5 000 people on Central Court with five additional courts.
Poreč Major is the first of four tournaments, followed by Stavanger Major, Gstaad Major, and ending with an absolute season highlight – the Swatch Season Final of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in Fort Lauderdale, USA.
Croatia has hosted four FIVB World Tour events through 2014, all men’s tournaments. In the medal count, Brazil and the United States are tied with three each and with one medal each are China, Estonia, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
